Join HSF’s Education and Research Associate Kendall Graham for a walk through Savannah’s early preservation history! This special tour, in honor of Preservation Month, will showcase some of the homes which were Historic Savannah Foundation’s earliest preservation success stories.
While most people are familiar with the incredible story of the Seven Ladies banding together to save the Davenport House in 1955, there is less awareness of the myriad of houses that HSF saved afterwards. This tour will follow in the footsteps of these early saves, and will explore the history of our Revolving Fund, which went on to save over 400 properties and shape the historic integrity of the preserved city we love today.
Participants will hear stories about this early initiative, historical anecdotes about prominent houses and people, tales of homes being moved across the city, and more! Whether you’re an architectural enthusiast, visiting, local, or just love learning some of our city’s lesser known history, this tour is for all!
