Employment Opportunities at the Davenport House

We don’t have any paid positions open at this time, but we are always looking for volunteers! Find out more about volunteering & internships below.

Volunteer at the Davenport House

Docent

Docents are the backbone of our museum. Volunteers complete a 4-week training course (one day a week for 1.5 hours) to prepare to conduct tours of the Davenport House Museum. Prior experience or knowledge is not required, but an enthusiasm for history is welcomed.

Snowbird? Teacher? We work around your schedule!

Please email inquiries to attend our next training class to info@davenporthousemuseum.org.

Other Volunteering

In addition to our tours, we also need help putting on our community events. This is a great opportunity for people who may not be able to commit to a regular tour schedule or who are not able to handle multiple stairs a day.

If you are interested, please email info@davenporthousemuseum.org for more information and to be added to our list of volunteers.

Intern at the Davenport House

Paid Internship

Each summer the Davenport House Museum hosts interns! While there is no set program, the museum staff will assist interested students in creating projects and work schedules which fit with their interests and goals.

Past intern projects include cataloging museum items, inventorying the museum collection, researching the tenement history, creating a preservation database for the building’s windows, creating a tour of the Columbia Square area, researching yellow fever, and creating tour scripts.

If you are interested in becoming an intern, please email info@davenporthousemuseum.org with your resume and your particular research interests. Selections will be made based on the needs of our institution that year.
